End of Year Teacher Gifts

Waaaa….school is almost out for the summer.   I’m sad cause that means another year has gone by and my kids are getting older.  But I’m happy too cause that means we have lots of outdoor playtime ahead of us.  My goal every summer is to keep the kids busy enough that they don’t fight all the time but also fun and relaxed so they say when they are older “Remember the summer of 2010?  That was the best summer EVER!”

Anyway,  I am making a few of these desktop card organizers for my son’s teachers this year.  I’m filling it up with Thank You cards and other assorted sentiments so they always have a card on hand.  I’m including envelopes and stamps.  I’m going to package this up in cello and ribbon before I give it to them.

I found the template for the card organizer online.  I printed it out, cut and folded where indicated and then decorated it.  This one shown is in the lovely Veranda paper.  I’m also making one in That’s Amore.  Below are the cards I’m including.  These were made following the designs in Wishes, our latest Card design book.  Each set has 16 total cards in it.  Hope they like it!

April Stamp of the Month Blog Hop featuring Flower Pot

Welcome to our Close To My Heart Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! We will be featuring April’s SOTM, Flower Pot, which is a set of 16 stamps.

Isn’t it sweet?
If you have come here from Cibele’s Blog, you are on the right path! If this is your first stop, you may want to go back to Helen’s Blog and start from the beginning!

This month we have 67 Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using this month’s SOTM and other great CTMH products on their blogs. This is simple to do – just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one! Here we go!

This stamp set begged me to do some watercoloring with the flowers.  And I was happy to oblige.  : – ) I used my waterbrush and stamp pads to watercolor.  If you haven’t watercolored before here are some tips for you.  While your stamp pad is closed squeeze the lid onto the stamp pad and then open up.  You will then be able to use the lid of the stamp pad as your palette.  Pick up some color from the lid and test on scrap paper.  If it’s too dark squeeze some water out of your waterbrush to lighten it.  If it’s too light add some more ink.  Then just start coloring.  I also added a little “shadow” around the flowers in heavenly blue to make them stand out a bit more.  Finally, I added some speckles to my image by running an old toothbrush over some leftover watercolored ink from the desert sand stamp pad and “speckled” the paper by tapping on the back of the toothbrush.

There’s a reason it’s called an Idea Book

There is a card in the current Spring Close To My Heart Idea Book that really appeals to me.  I keep going back to it over and over again.  It’s on page 30 with the Veranda Creative Basics paper.  Below I made a similar design for a birthday card.  Of course, I had to change it a bit to work for me and add my own flair to it.  But that is what is so appealing about the Close To My Heart Idea Books, you can find 100′s of pieces of artwork in each book to inspire you and make it your own or re-create it exactly as shown.  No one will be the wiser that you “stamp-lifted” the design.

Speaking of Idea Books, we have a new one coming out to consultants on April 1st and to everyone on May 1st.  I have seen a sneak peak of the new products and papers and let me just tell you it is fantastic!!  I’m really looking forward to getting my hands on some of these great new products.

Also, don’t forget we have just a few more days of the “Dare To Dream” March special for new CTMH consultants.  It’s your last chance to get $400 worth of Close To My Heart products for just $99!  This is a STEAL.
