In the new card pattern book from CTMH, Wishes, there are a lot of card bases that are circles. I think these are so unique and really make a card stand out. I also think they look especially festive this time of year – especially when you add an ornament “top” to it and a ribbon, like I did on this first card. To make these cards I cut my cardstock into 5 x 10″ strips and scored at 5″. So you have a 5″ square. Then I used the 4 1/2″ circle on the (retired) coluzzle to cut my circle. I laid the template over the card and then moved it a bit so there was at least 1″ for the fold and then cut my circle. It fits beautifully in an invitation envelope.
If you don’t want to go that route, there is a CD included in the Wishes book that has all sorts of templates, including a circle!

This card design is from the Close To My Heart card confidence program Wishes, with a slight modification. I like this design to hold a gift certificate or even cash! Always a good idea for any teen on your Christmas gift list.
The adhesive backed pearls on this card are an exclusive reward for Close To My Heart customers who are in the Connections club. For my club members/customers I keep track of your purchases and then send you your Connections club gift when you have filled up your Connections club card. This pack of pearls has 3 sizes of 16 in each size for a total of 48 pearls. What a great reward!

Tip of the week – Adding black to tone down brights

I love the bright colors in the Jingle paper pack. In fact, one of my favorite color combinations for Christmas is Tulip and Juniper, both featured in this paper pack. But sometimes you want to tone it down a bit. So when I need to tone down bright colors, I use black as a neutral to mute it a bit.

Where oh where did fall go?!! It was here…for one day…and now it looks and feels like winter outside.
Well, at least it gets me in the mood for Christmas cards! I love Christmas cards. It is truly my favorite card to make and receive. Do you feel the same? Do you live in Omaha? Join me and some friends for a Christmas Card workshop at my home on Sunday, Oct. 25th. Email me at houseostamps@aol.com for details. We’ll make 5 different cards using different stamp sets and papers and techniques.
This card was made for a swap with some other CTMH consultants last month. I love the Jingle paper pack – polka dots on this card and snowflakes on this card.

Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! This is simple to do – just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one! Here we go!

Recipe:
Holiday Warmth (Oct. SOTM), Jingle paper pack, Juniper stamp pad, black cardstock, white ric-rac, black brads, prisma glitter, glue pen, flurry dimensional Element & hairspray
I added some color to the dimensional elements by sponging juniper ink on them. Each of the stars and the snowflake was doused in glue from the glue pen and then dipped in prisma glitter. I then used an inexpensive aerosol hairspray to set the glitter. The card design comes from the new Close To My Heart cardmaking book, Wishes.
