You can find it at Studio J! This happened to me recently when I was trying to complete a cruise album that I had started with Moon Doggie paper. So instead I turned to Studio J (Close To My Heart’s online scrapbooking product.) All of the Close To My Heart retired paper from the past 4 or so years are still available in digital form! Read all about Studio J here and here.
Now give it a try yourself! It’s free to try out! Plus, this month we have a special for Studio J members. Purchase 9 layouts and receive your 10th layout free!
Here’s a few of the layouts I made in the Moon Doggie in Studio J:
And now here’s a few layouts I made with Moon Doggie with paper:
The only difference is the Studio J logo & tagline on the bottom of these photos. (Your layouts will come shipped to you without the logo & tagline. These are the jpeg images that are made for sharing on the web.) I spent many hours making the paper layouts and just an hour to make the 3 Studio J layouts.

Tip of the Month: Zinnia paper flowers

The tip of the week was a bit too ambitious of me to continue with a new tip every week. But a tip of the month certainly seems doable for me. ; – ) So without further ado, here’s the tip of the month: Zinnia paper flowers. I’m certainly no expert on flower species but to me this type of paper flower looks like a zinnia. This flower creation is quite easy.
Here’s a layout I made recently with the Wings paper pack from Close To My Heart. It is a modified version of a layout from the Magic Scrapbook Program, also from Close To My Heart. These photos totally cracked me up of my son playing around one day pretending to be a “working man.” He put on the shirt, slacks and tie by himself and grabbed his dad’s suitcase for a business trip. He is such a character so the title “Be You” really fit him.
Close up of flower:
To make the flowers:
Cut a strip of paper 1″ x 12.” Then cut a series of slits into the paper the entire length. Roll around a pencil or a round tool like a piercing tool. Don’t roll too tightly. Secure the end with a glue dot. Gently pull the flower off the piercing tool keeping it whole. Gently push the slits down to “open” up your flower. Sponge ink to the “flower petals.” Add a button to the center and secure with glue dots.

Oooo La La…It’s Magnifique

I’m lucky that I get to participate in an artwork swap with other consultants each new catalog release. Each of us take a new paper pack and create art using just that paper pack. The we swap them out. My friend Michelle choose the Magnifique paper pack. When I first saw this paper I immediately thought of the photos from my sister’s wedding. But you can see Michelle thought of her trip to NY with her cute hubbie. Then Michelle submitted the same artwork to Close To My Heart and WON a contest! Here’s a link to Michelle’s winning artwork: Inks Outside the Box. You can also view all the award winning artwork from other Close To My Heart Consultants here: Award Winning artwork
.
This is my take on Michelle’s layout.
As you can see I rotated the layout to accomodate a vertical photo where she had a horizontal photo as her main photo. Then I added a title to the bottom of the 2nd page where she has a title on the first page. This is the beauty of the patterns from Close To My Heart. (This one is from the new Magic book that features a lot of interactive elements.) You can rotate layouts to match your photos.

Tip of the week – Pleated Paper

See the topiary band under the blue strips? It’s kinda hard to see on the right side but on the left page you can see that I pleated the paper. It was easy to do and gives a cute new look to your paper projects. For this pleat I scored at 1” and then a ½” on the whole 12” strip. The hardest thing was to remember if it was 1” or ½”. So just repeat to yourself: 1 inch, ½ inch, 1 inch, ½ inch…
Then fold your pleat so it is valley fold (inward) and then mountain fold (outward). Repeat for the full strip of paper. I added a line of adhesive at the top and the put the blue strip on it to keep it flat.
The other fun thing on this layout was using the Irresistibles chipboard. I just sponged color on them and the pattern just popped right out. These took color so well. They have a slicker finish than our other dimensional elements and really looks fabulous.

I simply can’t get enough of the fun new paper from Close To My Heart called Zippidee. I also used the Hit the Spot stamp set for the stars and background paper on this layout. I can see this stamp set quickly becoming a favorite with all sorts of sizes of dots and spots.
For the scalloped border along the bottom of the layout I used our new 1 1/4″ circle punch. I flipped my paper over and lined it up on my VersaMat so 1/2″ was showing. Then I laid a line of adhesive down on the back bottom of the patterned paper and lined up one circle after another keeping the circles with only a 1/2″ showing.
Recipe: Zippiddee paper pack, Bambook cardstock, Dimensional elements stars, Giggle lower case, Cranberry stamp pad, sponge daubers, circle punch, colonial white waxy flax, black grads, Indian Corn Blue stamp pad and Honey stamp pad.
It’s more Zippidee. Yipee!

As promised, here’s a super cute layout with the new paper pack from Close To My Heart, Zippidee. Click on photo to enlarge.
I followed the sketch “Ensemble Piece” from Close To My Heart’s scrapbook design book Imagine for this layout. I made just a few changes to suit my photos better. I love using sketches for my scrapbook layouts. The creative process is so much easier for me when I start with a sketch. With all of Close To My Heart’s sketches you get the exact measurements to cut your paper, photos and embellishments. Then you just lay them out following the guide. Super easy with great results!
I used a couple of brand new products available from Close To My Heart in this layout also. The little felt “Mickeys” are from the new Fancy Fuzz borders. The brackets and frame around the “What a Thrill” are from the Irresistibles Pizzazz Dimensional Elements. The fun thing about these is you sponge ink over them and the design on the chipboard appears white. Also the Stars are new too. One of the many Dimensional Element shapes we have.
Recipe: Zippidee paper pack, What a Thrill stamp set, Friendship E & C alpha, Clear buttons, Red & Black grosgrain ribbon, Desert sand stamp pad, Black stamp pad and waxy flax, Indian Corn Blue stamp pad, Irresitibles Pizzazz & Stars Dimensional Elements.
Tip of the week – Scrapbook Page Flow

One of the easiest ways to get the readers eye to flow across the page is to add embellishments on the top left side, create an embellishment in the middle and then finish with an embellishment on the bottom right side. For the scrapbook page below I added silver accents to create the flow across the page. I added silver hinges on both the left and right page towards the center to give it balance as I had 5 embellishments. By giving the reader a visual flow you’ve helped ease them into the traditional method of “reading” a page from top left to bottom right.
Recipe:
Caboodle paper pack, Giggle lowercase stamp set, Candlelight stamp set, Happy Birthday stamp set, tiny typewriter stamp set, Silver hinges, silver photo hangers, tiny tabs, crystal blue stamp pad, buttercup stamp pad, sweet leaft stamp pad and ribbon rounds, chocolate stamp pad, Dimensional Elements monogram “H” & “B”, hearts & simple numbers.
Tip of the week – Multicolored stamp pad

As the mom of two boys I immediately fell in love with the You Rock paper from the Spring 2010 Close To My Heart Idea Book. This bright, multi-colored paper has fun, energy and excitement written all over it.
For the layout below I used the Grand Finale layout design from Imagine. Also, I was able to use our My Pages Talk voice recorder (shown on the bottom right of the layout on the journaling strip) to tape my son playing his drums. He’s really quite good at the drums. Takes after his dad in that aspect. He loves to play them and burn off some steam after school every day. Luckily our neighbors don’t mind his daily practices.
To mimic the look of the multi-colored star paper I decided to stamp the winged heart with my own version of a multi-colored stamp pad. To create your own, take a paper towel and fold in half and place on a non-porous surface. I use our Craft Tray. Then I used some of our reinkers in the same colors as the kit and squeezed several drops of each reinker onto the paper towel. I purposely didn’t overlap the colors as they merge into each other as the liquid is absorbed into the paper towel. Then stamp your image just as you would with a regular stamp pad. I used Goldrush, Olive & Outdoor Denim reinkers for this “stamp pad.”
Recipe:
You Rock paper Pack, Star Power stamp set, Rustic Alphabet stamp set, Autumn craft buttons, colonial white waxy flax, bitty sparkles, Goldrush stamp pad & reinker, Olive reinker, Outdoor Denim stamp pad & reinker, Pansy Purple stamp pad, clear sparkles and voice recorder
Tip of the week – pink paper not just for girls

The new Topstitch paper from the Spring 2010 Close To My Heart Idea Book is just adorable! I love the combination of baby pink, heavenly blue and chocolate together. However, as the mom of two boys I don’t have a lot of use for pink paper. I created the layout below commemorating our son’s 12th birthday dinner at Cheesecake factory. I thought this paper worked beautifully with the photos and the February Stamp of the Month, Piece of Cake. When I showed the layout to my son, he didn’t even notice the pink on the layout! When I asked him about the flowers (I didn’t want to call his attention to the pink) he said it looked good. Hmmm…maybe he is maturing?
Recipe:
Topstitch paper pack, Piece of Cake stamp set, Cocktail alphabet, Chocolate stamp pad & marker, Antique cooper mini-medley, borders Dimensional Elements, Heavenly Blue stamp set, Vineyard berry cardstock & stamp pad, White Embossing powder & Versamark
Enjoy

I have some new artwork for you from the new Spring Idea Book, but I am waiting for my club members to meet tonight before I post it. My clubs have been so backed up this past month with all the snow and bitterly cold temperatures. But we are finally getting back on track and in the swing of things. So until I post the new artwork, here is an older piece I created but hadn’t posted yet. Enjoy!
Recipe: Notebook Paper pack, big blooms, Friendship alphabet, Code It stamp set, Chocolate stamp pad & cardstock and pewter designer brad
