I’m Twitterpated!
Ok, I had never heard of this word, Twitterpated, before the CTMH Autumn/Winter Idea Book was released. Now I get it! It means enamored or flighty, excited feeling. And that I am with this paper pack from CTMH. There are six patterns in the pack perfect for nature pictures, fall pictures, heritage pictures and more. Here is my layout featuring Twitterpated. I will put our family portrait on the left page and pictures of my parents and my husbands parents on the right side for the family tree side.

Thanks to my friend-Shannon-for the inspiration for this layout. I almost completely stamplifted it. Shannon is a great artist and a great friend!
Something I really liked on Shannon’s layout was the base pages were embossed and sanded to look like a brick wall. To do so, simply use your paper trimmer with the scorer blade and score a line every 2″. Turn a quarter turn and score every 4″ alternating lines. So one line would be 4″ and 8″ and the other 2″, 6″ and 10″. Then sand the raised lines.

Tip of the week – Colorblocking
![]()
I just love the simple clean lines of colorblocking and haven’t done it for awhile. Colorblocking can be like fitting together the pieces of a puzzle. This layout had lots of interest added by sanding the textured cardstock and edge distressing all of the textured white cardstock. It makes it look like a canvas. This layout was inspired by fellow CTMH consultant Kim Jesperson for a class she taught in the Training Academy.

Tip of the week – Clear resist with paint
I have a couple of little tips on this layout but the coolest, *I* think anyway, was the “4th” was done by first embossing with clear embossing powder, heated and then painted – thickly – with white acrylic paint. You may need to add two coats to get a nice layer of paint without brush strokes. Let dry. Then using a damp cloth or paper towel rub the paint off the embossed image. It comes off on just the embossed part. You might need to use a little elbow grease at first and then it starts peeling off easily. The embossed image really stands out. It’s glossy and glistens a little too. While I had the paint brush loaded with paint I swiped my photo mats too.
Here’s the complete layout.
The clear buttons were backed with patterned paper to make them match the layout. Use a dab of liquid glass to adhere. I used both sides of our B&T Duo’s – the patterned side and the solid side. Finally, the last tip, I used two sponge daubers to color the flag stamp different colors. One sponge dauber was inked with cranberry ink and the other in Indian Corn Blue ink. Then just daub the stamp. You might need to reink to get the desired color. You get a softer, muted tone by using this technique too.

U rock!

My brother-in-law, Phil, is a guitarist with several different bands. Currently he plays with Dirt Drifters out of Nashville. We were able to see him play in person at a big outdoor concert in Kansas City in the Summer of 2006. It was at least 105 degrees that day. Just brutal. At the time he was playing with Morningwood, hence the t-shirt on Alex. Boy, am I glad he’s not with them anymore as it’s kindof hard to explain why a 4 year old is wearing a t-shirt that says Morningwood. ; – ) But the kids LOVED seeing Uncle Phil play in person and it was a thrill for dh too to see his little brother totally enthrall the crowd – especially the young girls in their bikinis – or maybe not their bikinis – yikes! What an experience for a 4 and 8 year old!

Level 1 & Lovin’ It!
The beauty of Level 1 layouts (cardstock with preprinted designs & spaces for your photos) is that you can get a lot of photos done in a flash and they look just great! I’ve been falling in love with Level 1 layouts again recently after working with the Magic Moments scrapbook kit. Level 1 layouts sure helps me catch up on my scrapbooking….and that’s a good thing!
Now this page I did add some stitching for the baseball. The layout did include a semi-half circle and I decided to mimic the stitching on the baseball. I got this idea from the new Reflections book. LOVE IT!

And even more Magic Moments
These pages were embellished with additional products & stamps that did not come in the Magic Moments kit. I just couldn’t help myself. I must embellish! I must embellish!
Ooops…that picture is crooked, not the pages.

Tip of the week – spacing brads around an object
As promised, here is the facing page of the last tip of the week. The brads aound the U were spaced equally apart from each other by using a larger circle as a template. I first cut a circle from the coluzzle that was just one size larger than the matted circle U. Then I put that circle on a grid with 1/4″ marks. I used the CTMH Versamat. For this circle I made marks on the template every 3 squares, you can space them closer or farther apart also. Then I laid the circle under the U layers before I glued them down to see exactly where it would lay on the page. Using the paper piercer I followed the marks on the template and made holes for my brads. I loved the way this turned out.

Tip of the week – Tarnishing Dimensional Elements
I just realized I was the featured blog on the WordPress.com website for the scrapbook layout category. (I was wondering all these hits were coming from. LOL!) So I better make a good post. ; – ) This layout was inspired by fellow CTMH consultant, Karen Pederson and the Summer Idea Book. Which, btw, you can now view the entire Idea Book online here: http://www.closetomyheart.com/Ideabooks/Summer08US.aspx
The “U” is one of our new Dimensional Elements (Chipboard) Monogram letters. First ink up a sponge dauber in Desert Sand ink. Then using a circular motion rub Desert sand ink all over the Dimensional Element. Then ink up a sponge dauber in Barn Red ink. Start on the bottom of the letter and rub in a circular motion. When you get towards the middle use a lighter touch so it will blend in with the desert sand. Finally, finish it off on the very bottom with a little black ink rubbed in.
I’ll post page 2 as another tip of the week – so stay tuned – there is another tip on that side of the layout.

More Magic Moments
These pages are so easy, peasy to assemble. The only thing I added to the pages, other than what comes in the kit, is some cardstock for matting the photos.
Oops! I just realized that I assembled that last page wrong. I’ll have to fix that. LOL! Guess that is what happens when you scrap late at night.
